Blessings to all of you who have been praying with us for our city to experience an awakening to a new life in Christ. We've been praying for: Revival of Christians, Reconnecting of churches, Repentance, Redemption, Reconciliation, Restoration and the Reign of God over our greater Seattle area!

The response has been incredible! People and churches around Seattle have been changed because of this prayer initiative for our city. God is moving in the hearts of the people and is awakening our city!

We invite you and your community to pray beginning January 5th join us in this prayer and worship event to mark Day #100 on
Sunday evening, April 14th Location:

Emerald City Bible Fellowship Church

7728 Rainier Ave. S., Seattle, WA 98118

If we prayed for churches to reconnect with one another - we should also do it!

This is an amazing opportunity to come together to worship Christ and pray for our city!
We will also share the vision for AWAKEN Seattle 2019.
Looking forward to connect with you all.

- Pastor Ben Sterciuc

“Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Ephesians 5:14

Awaken Seattle was born in a heart aching for the people, for the souls, for the city of Seattle. In March 2016, I was returning from a month long mission in Africa, and though quite exhausted, when the plane wrapped around the skyline of Seattle before landing, the breathtaking image of Seattle prompted this prayer in my heart. I prayed: “Jesus, I thank you for my city and I pray that you will give me the courage and the means to elevate You, Jesus, to all the people in Seattle”. The next thought in my mind was: “there is only one of me and there are so many people who don’t know Jesus in Seattle…”

The vision was awesome, but the implementation seemed impossible. It’s easier to preach to Christians on Sundays about sharing the Gospel with others than actually sharing the Gospel on Monday with my coworker or neighbor. So, I continued to pray for an awakening in we Christians to go beyond the Sunday mentality and the Christian circles.
It is said that 90% of Seattle residents do not attend a church or publicly acknowledge faith in God. Considering that about two million people live in the Greater Seattle area, it implies that about 1,800,000 people do not know Jesus and need to hear the good news of Jesus Christ! This desire had been the motivation behind starting Elevation Church on the Eastside of Seattle. However, this time, the prompting of the Holy Spirit was taking me beyond the limits of my young church. As a result, the prayer for Seattle became a daily focus - even in conversations with other pastors and Christians. It seemed that every Christian, every pastor, and every church leader shared the same desire, yet all efforts were done in isolation of their respective church community or denomination. There was a sense of disconnect and even apathy… yet the prayer for Seattle continued while waiting for a revival!

God speaks through creative mediums and we often miss it, but this time, I didn’t.
I saw a Facebook post about a book titled “Awakening” by Matt Brown and, intrigued by the title, I ordered it immediately. When it arrived and I began to read it, I was quite impressed by the intent of the author to give the reader a global picture of the church of the awakening happening in different parts of the world - even though things seem to go in the opposite direction in North America. While our culture is purposely moving us away from God, in many parts of the world there is an awakening of souls who desperately seek Jesus and the Kingdom of God. Matt Brown writes from such a hopeful, optimistic perspective about what God is doing in His Church and through the church in the world. The author calls the church to become aware of what others are doing in their city and region, rather than assuming that nothing is being done. The book really articulates these very profound ideas about awakening and provided some powerful examples to support them. One of the examples offered was about a prayer initiative: an awakening prayer that gathered several churches from a city under one common goal of reaching their city with the Gospel. That inspired me to start a series of “What if” questions.
“What if we engage others in a prayer initiative for Seattle?”
“What if several churches got together and prayed for the city?”
“What if we pray for 100 days for Seattle?”
“What if 100 churches prayed together for 100 days for Seattle?”
“What if?” “What if?”  “What if?”

Once I finished the book, I shared this new vision to “pray for 100 days for Seattle with 100 churches” with my wife and she was very encouraging and supportive. As I began to share with friends, pastors, strangers, really, anyone who was willing to listen, the response was great!
We launched #100daysofprayer for Seattle on Sunday, May 22 through August 28, 2016.
We called the people of Greater Seattle area to pray for seven things:
Revival in Christians, Reconnecting of our churches, Repentance, Redemption,
Restoration, Reconciliation, and for God to Reign over our city! (7 Rs)
The reaction has been incredible! There was such a thirst for revival, for prayer, for unity, for the very seven things we prayed for! At this time, we’ve signed up 77 churches and continue to pursue other pastors and churches to join in prayer.

Moreover, we’ve decided to read the book together with our team at Elevation church; it’s been very encouraging to see our team engaged actively in prayer not only for ourselves, families, and churches, but also for our city and country!

Going forward, we are planning an AWAKEN SEATTLE gathering on day 100 to celebrate what God is already doing in our city on Sunday, April 14th, 2019

Our vision is to encourage churches to continue to pray and gather with the churches
in their community to pray for the city and pursue unity and awakening,
even beyond this season.

What if the   AWAKEN Seattle #100daysofprayer initiative will inspire other Christians in other cities to pursue God in prayer for their respective cities? What if our culture will actually awaken to a new life in Christ? What if in the most polarized political climate, we will experience, as a result of prayer, the most powerful awakening in modern times? What if we pray for our families, for our friends, for our neighbors, for our cities and for our country like we truly believe what the Bible says: “If my people pray…”
“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

In His Service,
